News of a fantastic new opportunity for Bluebirds youth players!
Barrow AFC are delighted to announce that the Club have had an application accepted to enter a team into the Lancashire FA U21 Floodlit League next season!
The league is increasingly popular and is designed to bridge the gap between youth and adult football. It will provide a fantastic opportunity for our U18 players to gain further experience at a competitive level as part of a pathway towards the Barrow AFC first team.
The teams that will compete in the league next season are:
Lostock St Gerrards
Following news of the new teams joining the league, including ourselves, Lancashire FA’s 11v11 Football Development Officer, Iain Mackie said: “These prestigious clubs joining demonstrates the need for this league, bridging the gap between youth and adult football. It provides quality opportunities for young people who are looking to make the step from youth to adult football. Keeping young people playing football at this age is one of our key priorities.”
The league is due to start in mid-September and the team will play as many as 18 fixtures which are played midweek with an 8pm kick off. Due to the age groups involved and the midweek travelling distances, we will play our home games at Dallam Sports Centre in Milnthorpe. All Bluebirds supporters are invited to attend to cheer the lads on.
The league also allows as many as four over 21 players to feature, which means it is a fantastic opportunity for first team players if they are recovering from injury or are needing competitive game time.
