Occupation
I have worked in BAE for 40 years in various roles and have worked in Finance for 20 years as the Workplace System Application Manager ,which is system which provides the basis for the 5000 employees and agency for payment, and costing hours to the various projects.
Earliest Barrow AFC memory
I guess that 1967/68 season, was my earliest memory of Barrow soccer. I had just started in Vickers as an apprentice fitter and turner and a couple of us, Steve and Stuart Edmondson and myself used to go to the Holker Street end and a number of away matches and watch people like Brian Arrowsmith, Fred Else, Peter Bebbington, Roy Ellison, Roy McCarthy Mick Harland, Eric Harrison, Jim Mulvanny etc.
Highlight of recent seasons
Of course I thoroughly enjoyed the Middlesbrough experience, in particular we met a school bus from Millom and the kids faces when they saw they were following the team coach being escorted by the police outrider. Also just watching coach after coach of Barrow supporters arriving at the Riverside and cheering the team into the dressing rooms was very emotional. We were also lucky to enjoy the company of Steve Gibson and Keith Lamb who were very nice to us and had taken the time to understand Barrow as a town and related us to Middlesbrough and we heard them say to the staff to treat us as if we were Manchester Utd!
For different reasons I enjoyed the hard earned points at Wrexham and Mansfield late goals by Nick Rogan , which were vital at the time to our existence in the BSP.
Eastbourne was for me the best match as the pressure was off, the sun was shining, and I thought the Barrow and Eastbourne supporters had a great day out in each others company which provided a carnival atmosphere which is what, for me, non league football is about and I thank all the BDF and ISC members for the hours, miles and money they put in to support the team.
Other information/Interests
