Barrow Bring In Two Ahead Of Macc Trip

Barrow have signed winger Chris Moore and loaned Central Defender Tom Aldred from Colchester ahead of Monday's trip to Macclesfield.

Former Gateshead & Darlington wideman Chris Moore, 28, has joined on a five-month contract having been on non-contract terms with Northern League outfit Whitley Bay.

Moore began his football career in Newcastle United's Academy, then played non-League football for Bishop Auckland and Whitley Bay before taking a degree in journalism at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

On returning to England in 2008 he rejoined Whitley Bay and was part of their FA Vase-winning team in 2009.

In March 2010, he turned professional for the first time with Football League Two club Darlington. After a short loan spell at Northern League club Spennymoor, Moore was part of Darlington's FA Trophy winning side in 2011, playing all 120 minutes in the Final against Mansfield Town. He was not offered a new contract however and was released by Darlington a week later.

In July 2011, Moore joined Gateshead and on 31 December 2011, Moore had his contract extended but, troubled by a hernia problem, was released by Gateshead at the end of last season.

Barrow fans may remember Moore in The Heed's two victories over The Bluebirds last season, most notably when he skipped past Paul Edwards (himself no slouch) at will at The International Stadium in April this year.

Having recovered from a hernia operation in the summer, Moore will give good competition for places with Paul Rutherford & Danny Rowe on the wings.

Tom Aldred, 21, has joined on a one month loan from League One outfit Colchester and will be with Barrow until September 25th.

Bolton-based Aldred will provide extra defensive cover. He began his career with Carlisle United and was at Watford before his move to Colchester. Earlier in his career he had loan spells at Workington, Stockport, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and last season at Torquay.
