Barrow Land O'Donnell
Barrow have finally signed Stockport Centre Back, Danny O'Donnell, on a free transfer.
The 26 year-old former Crewe and Shrewsbury defender originally came up through the youth ranks at Liverpool.
O'Donnell's original move to Holker Street was thwarted as he was literally signing the last piece of paper, when The Football Conference imposed a registration embargo just after 1pm on Friday January 4th because Barrow had an outstanding PAYE payment.
With the embargo lifted five days later, O'Donnell was again due to sign but when Stockport sacked Manager, Jim Gannon, last week, he decided to remain at Edgeley Park and fight for his place.
However when he was not involved in the game against Forest Green at the weekend, he decided to re-instigate the move to Barrow which gives him a sixteen month contract, albeit with a relegation clause.
O'Donnell signed the paperwork at Edgeley Park on Tuesday lunchtime after satisfying Barrow Physio, Sean Riley, who gave the go ahead on Medical grounds.
O'Donnell will wear the number 18 shirt which had already been printed in readiness for his original proposed debut at Kidderminster.
The commanding central defender will have to wait at least a week for his debut though, as he is FA Trophy tied to Stockport and therefore ineligible to play for Barrow in this season's competition.
O'Donnell joins former team mates in both Danny Rowes on Barrow's books.
