Barrow now entertain Gateshead in Round 3 of the FA Trophy on Saturday week after last night's 1-0 win at Maidenhead.
An eighth minute Phil Bolland move from a blocked Andy Bond shot was enough to see off the spirited Blue Square South outfit.
Jason Walker (twice), Gregg Blundell and Andy Bond all had excellent chances to put the tie to bed, while Tim Deasy was in fine form to maintain the lead. He made two successive point blank saves in the second half and in stoppage time palmed a fierce drive onto the bar.
Simon Wiles made his debut as a second half substitute, but the whole side portrayed the signs of a team had has only played 2 competitive games in the last 5 weeks and not at all for 17 days, with match sharpness understandably lacking at times.
So Barrow overcame a banana skin of a fixture and join fellow Cumbrians, Workington, in the last 16 after the Borough Park outfit's win over Rushden and Diamonds.
