U21 Captain Sloan Signs First Team Forms

Under 21 captain Christian Sloan has signed first team forms with the club.

After a string of impressive performances as captain of our U21 side, midfielder Christian Sloan has signed first team forms.

Christian was last in action for the U21’s on Monday night as they came from behind to record a superb 3-2 win over Lostock St Gerard’s to remain unbeaten at the top of the Lancashire FA U21 County League.

He is pictured with the head of Barrow AFC Community Sports and Under 21 coach Craig Rutherford. Craig has recently joined the first team management team to gain valuable experience. Following the news he said “I am delighted for Christian who deserves his chance after being crucial in the U21’s so far this season. Everyone has put in a lot of work to begin to develop a pathway from our youth teams to the first team, and the U21 side forming this season is a big part of that. Ian Evatt has shown us fantastic support over the past few months and it is fantastic to see everyone reaping the rewards with Christian joining the squad for this weekends game at Ebbsfleet.”

Head of Youth Tony Callister said “The news today that Christian has signed first team forms has given everyone at the performance centre a huge lift. First team boss Ian Evatt has a vision for the club and this includes the inclusion of players coming from through the centre. Today is a special day for myself as this programme was set up by Neil Doherty, and in my last 3 years this is what I have been aiming for as head of performance. This day has been an achievement that all centre/community staff can share in as a very special day indeed, well done Christian Sloan.”

Christian joins the squad for our trip to Ebbsfleet United and is delighted to be given a chance at first team level; “I couldn’t be happier to be given a chance with the first team, it’s what all the lads in the U21 side are aiming for. I’ve got to thank the gaffer for the opportunity and Craig and Tony (Callister) for all they have done. Hawcoat Park FC have also been fantastic with me, Trevor Houston especially.”

The Bluebirds head to the Kuflink stadium tomorrow to face Ebbsfleet United in the Vanarama National League. Kick off is 3pm.
