Back in November 2007 we welcomed then League One side Bournemouth to Holker Street for an FA Cup first round clash.

At the time the Bluebirds were struggling at the wrong end of the Conference North, but 2,203 supporters packed in to the ground for the tie.

Things started well for us and Kevin Rapley gave us a deserved lead with just under twenty minutes played, firing a powerful effort into the far corner.

The visitors levelled just before the break thanks to Jem Karacan, on loan from Reading, who curled an effort pasy Deasy and into the bottom corner.

With not much in the second half, the Bluebirds earned a replay down on the South Coast, which ulimately ended in extra time heartbreak and a 3-2 defeat.

As mentioned, the Bluebirds were struggling at the time and manager Phil Wilson was sacked between the original tie and replay, with players Dave Bayliss, Darren Sheridan and Paul Jones put in charge of the team for the replay.

Bayliss and Sheridan would go on to become player/managers as we went on a famous journey throughout the rest of the season, ending with promotion to the Conference after a play-off final win over Stalybridge.
