Ian Evatt Signs Three Year Deal

The news you have all been waiting for!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Bluebirds manager Ian Evatt has signed a new THREE year deal with the club!

Evatt signs on the dotted line after a whirlwind first season in charge of the club which has seen a massive improvement from this time last year, despite a change in ownership halfway through the season.

The Bluebirds have played the best football in the National League this season and have secured a top half finish with just one game to play at Gateshead on Saturday.

It’s fair to say that Chairman Paul Hornby is delighted to have finally confirmed the news:

“I’m delighted to get Ian secured on a longer term deal. There was never any doubt in Ian’s commitment to Barrow AFC and the new agreement gives comfort to both parties and rewards Ian after a season with so many positives. The professionalism at the club and the way we play football have taken huge steps forward and we are now a club players are keen to join. I’m sure it also demonstrates to our supporters the direction we want to take the club in, as we move forward into what I’m sure will be an exciting future.”

The manager is just as delighted to have finally got his new contract signed:

“I’m over the moon to have finally got the new contract signed. There was never any doubt in my mind that it would get done, and it is a sign of how professionally the new board are doing things, that they took the time to get it right.

I’m really proud and happy to be manager of this football club and I think we’ve got a team that are really proud to represent the town of Barrow. That’s what every supporter said to me when I took the job, that they just want to be proud and re-engage with the team again and I think we’re showing, with things like having local owners, that we are re-engaging again.

We’ve now got to start to look ahead to next season and make sure that we don’t settle with being mid-table and average, we want to be at the top of this league and there is no reason why we can’t.”

Congratulations, Gaffer!
