Born in Heywood, Luke played youth football with Oldham Athletic and signed a full contract with them in the summer of 2012.


He was loaned out to Nantwich Town in the Evo-stik Northern Premier League Premier Division in August 2013 for one month making four appearances and then went on loan in December of that year to Workington in Skrill North and make six appearances for them in a month. In January 2014 he went on a youth loan for the rest of the season to Leicester City.


He was released by the Latics in the summer of 2014 and joined Accrington Stanley where he made nine appearances. He turned down a new deal in January 2015 and left.


He then had a spell at the end of 2015 with Watford playing in their under 23 team. He signed a two year deal in the summer of 2016 with York City but appeared only four times in the first team over that period.


In August 2018 he joined Macclesfield Town freshly promoted back to the Football League but he no appearances in their first team and in December 2018 he joined Tamworth of the Evo-stick Southern League Central Division. He made five appearances for them and in February 2019 joined Wrexham. He was released in the summer of 2019 without making an appearance.


He joined Barrow in December 2019 following injury to back up keeper Johnny Saltmer. He made his debut in the FA Trophy tie at Atherton Collieries.
