Ian Evatt – First Team Manager:
Born in Coventry, Ian spent his youth career at Derby County before going on to play over 30 times for their first time.
He went on to play over 500 professional games at clubs including Queens Park Rangers, and Blackpool where he was ever present during their Premier League campaign.
Ian has most recently been at fellow National League side Chesterfield where he was club captain as well as caretaker manager for a short time at the end of last season.
He joined the Bluebirds in June 2018.
Peter Atherton – Assistant Manager:
Assistant Manager Peter Atherton joins the club from his hometown club Wigan Athletic where he was their development squad manager. Atherton, 48, enjoyed a successful career as a player with several hundred appearances in the football league for Wigan, Coventry and Sheffield Wednesday. He is perhaps best known for his time captaining Wednesday where he made over 200 appearances before moving to fellow Yorkshire side Bradford City. He made nearly 100 appearances for The Bantams before a brief spell on loan at Birmingham City. His final club as a player was Halifax Town, appearing 14 times for them before being forced to retire due to injury.
Following his playing career Peter re-joined his hometown club as a youth coach before heading back to Halifax to become assistant manager. In recent years he returned to Wigan once again in 2014, coaching their U18 side as they lost just 6 of 38 fixtures in the 2014/15 season.
In March 2017 he spent a couple of months as first team assistant manager at the DW stadium following the departure of Warren Joyce and assistant Andy Welsh.
Callum Walters – Physiotherapist
Physio Callum Walters (BSc Hons, MSST) is a graduate sports therapist and member of the society of Sports Therapists. He graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 2016 with a degree in Sports Therapy BSc (Hons) and has worked hard to gain experience in both semi-pro and professional football since graduating.
He initially had a spell working with Derby County’s Academy before his first experience with the senior game at Matlock Town. He then joined Chesterfield FC’s academy before being promoted as Chesterfield FC’s first team sports therapist at the start of the 2017-18 season, working with Bluebirds boss Ian Evatt who was a player at the Proact Stadium.
His work was recognized last season as he was part of the medical department nominated for the FMA League 2 medical team of the year award and Callum will work closely with the players through rehabilitation, conditioning and injury prevention this season.
Lewis Duckmanton – Analyst
Lewis Duckmanton joins the club as our first team analyst. Born in Sheffield, Lewis has experience working in the Football League at clubs in League One and League Two and possesses the level 3 award in performance analysis.
As you may have seen on our twitter page, the club will be using PlayerTek GPS vests to allow Lewis to monitor player performance in pre-season and throghout the coming campaign.
