Bobby Burns Is A Bluebird

4 August 2020

We are thrilled to announce the signing of Northern Ireland U21 International Bobby Burns from Heart of Midlothian.

The Antrim born 20 year old can play as both a left back or midfielder and comes highly rated after a successful spell in Scotland.

Burns played youth football for Lisburn Youth and Cliftonville before joining Glenavon FC Youth in June 2015.

He went on to impress at Glenavon, making a name for himself with nearly 40 first team appearances in two years at Mourneview Park.

His big move came in the summer of 2018 when he signed a three year deal at Hearts for an undisclosed fee, making his competitive debut shortly after.

Since then he has had loan spells at both Livingston and Newcastle Jets in Australia. He left the Jets in April of this year due to the COVID pandemic and joins us ahead of the 2020/21 Sky Bet League Two season.

Burns also has plenty of experience on the international stage, with 10 caps at U21 level and more at both U19 and U17 level. He has stated his desire to earn his first senior cap and hopes to continue on the path towards that with the Bluebirds.

Welcome to Barrow, Bobby!
