I'm Pleased For Players And Fans - Kelly

19 December 2020

Rob Kelly was delighted that the players were able to send the fans home with smiles on their faces after a dominant display in their 3-0 win over Cheltenham Town.

Scott Quigley, Luke James and Harrison Biggins were all on target as The Bluebirds swept aside their high-flying opponents to end a run of five consecutive defeats in real style in the wind and rain of Cumbria.

“It was a good performance and we came out on the right side of the result so I am pleased,” Kelly told iFollow.

“I am pleased for everyone connected with the Club, the players and the fans – it was great to have them back in numbers, and I thought it was a good game in difficult conditions.

“Cheltenham are a good team who will be up and around it so I am happy to get those three points at the end of what has been a difficult week.

“I thought you saw a lot foundations put in by David Dunn coming to fruition today; we were competitive, we played well and we made the result go the right way for us.

“I am a bit old school and I think football clubs are about the players and supporters, that’s the heart of it and there was a connection there today and they really got behind us right from the start.

“It was just nice to have that little bit of normality among everything. A Saturday kick-off at 3pm, a muddy pitch, I thought it was great and just like it should be.”
