I Believe In My Players - Dunn

13 November 2020

David Dunn knows his players face a big challenge as they head to high-flying Cambridge United this weekend but is backing them to bring home a result if they perform to their capabilities.

The Bluebirds are looking to bounce back after their four-game unbeaten run was brought to an end by Grimsby Town last time out in League Two.

Dunn’s men were then left without a game last weekend following the late postponement of the FA Cup tie against AFC Wimbledon, so they are now straining at the leash to get going once again.

On Saturday they will come face-to-face with one of the form sides in the division, with The U’s looking to claim the three points that would see them return to the top of the table.

However, Dunn says the trust he has in the group of players he’s assembled means he is confident they can spring a surprise at The Abbey Stadium if they play to their potential.

“Cambridge a really good team who have had a really good start,” he told iFollow Barrow.

“They have two strikers in Ironside and Mullin who have scored 18 goals between them already this season, so they carry a real threat at the top end of the pitch and they’re very organised too.

“We know that we have got to be at our best to match them because they’re on a really good run of form but, on the flip side, I really believe in our players.

“We’ve got a good group of players here now and whoever I pick to play I feel like I can trust them.

“At our best we can hurt any team. If we play like we can do then I think we can cause Cambridge some real problems on Saturday, so this is a game we’re all really looking forward to.”
