David Dunn has added some quality and experience to his squad with the acquisition of midfielder Chris Taylor on a short-term contract.

The 33-year-old former Oldham Athletic star has been training with The Bluebirds recently and has now put pen to paper on a deal at The Progression Solicitors Stadium.

Taylor came through the ranks at hometown club, Oldham and he went on to sign professional terms with The Latics in 2005 before making almost 300 appearances for the club.

He left to join Millwall for a season in 2012 before completing a switch to Blackburn Rovers and he spent three years on the books at Ewood Park.

Bolton Wanderers was his next destination when he signed for The Trotters in 2016 and, after a short loan stint back at Oldham, he was snapped up by Blackpool in the summer of 2018.

Taylor spent the 2019/20 campaign with Bradford City but was released at the end of the season and boss Dunn has now moved quickly to bring him to Barrow.

“Chris has done really well in training,” revealed Dunn.

“He’s looked really lively and I already know him from playing alongside him at Blackburn so I know how good a footballer he is.

“He’s got experience, he’s got a good energy and that makes him great to have around the place so I am looking forward to seeing him get the Barrow kit on and show everyone what he can do.

“I am delighted he’s joining us at the start of what we are hoping will be an exciting week.”

He has been handed squad number 28 and goes straight in to contention for a debut in this evening’s EFL Trophy game against Leeds United Under-21s.
