Barrow star Mike Jones is in the running for the Sky Bet League Goal of the Month award for after his thunderbolt in the game against Colchester United was named on the September shortlist.
The midfielder let fly with a ferocious effort from almost thirty yards which flew in to the top corner of the net to secure The Bluebirds a share of the spoils.
Now, Jones’ sensational strike is among those being considered as the division’s best in September, after it was picked out by Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, Sky Bet Sponsorship Executive Matt Goodwin and EFL Senior Media Manager Rob Meaden.
Jones has some strong competition to shake off if he is to land the prize, going up against Tom Conlon’s free-kick for Port Vale and George Francomb’s powerful drive for Crawley Town.
