Dior Angus set David Dunn’s men on their way from the penalty spot after Josh Kay had been brought down but Walsall levelled just before the break through Caolan Lavery.
Luke James then restored The Bluebirds’ advantage early in the second half with a terrific strike from the edge of the box but Walsall were then awarded a penalty of their own which was tucked home by Lavery.
