David Dunn knows that hard work was at the core of Tuesday night’s superb away win and he’s challenged his players to ensure they maintain that effort and desire then they host Bradford City on Saturday.
The Bluebirds boss was as thrilled as anyone to see the team collect their first league win of the new campaign at Mansfield Town but he has insisted that victory over The Stags must act as a platform for the squad.
Bradford are the next visitors to The Progression Solicitors Stadium, where Dunn’s men remain unbeaten this term, and he has demanded that standards don’t slip as they prepare to face The Bantams.
“In football you can’t just switch it on and off,” he told iFollow.
“You don’t just turn up on a Saturday and think everything will be fine – you have to work hard, you’ve got to be resilient and your mentality has got to be right every single day in training.
“We’ve got a really good group of players here and the competition for places is getting really strong so every single day they go out on the training ground they have to impress.
“The lads that have got the shirts at the minute are performing to a really high standard and it’s theirs to give away now.
“We have to keep driving on, keep on believing and keep on putting in those performances in because we’ve got a lot of games coming up and it’s going to be really intense.
“It’s early days in the season but we want to get a culture at the Club where we are about winning games and being ruthless and relentless – that’s what we’re all striving for.”
