Walkers are aiming to cover 1901 miles during April

There is some solid progress being made in terms of distances covered and donations received as the Barrow AFC ‘1901 Miles In April’ campaign gathers pace.

We revealed last week that a team of 19 fundraisers from the Club, including members of the Board, players and staff, had set a target of walking 1901 miles in the next month to raise funds for The British Heart Foundation.

The idea came on the back of the devastating news that Bluebirds star Lewis Hardcastle had been forced to retire from professional football due to the discovery of a genetic heart condition.

Chief Executive Levi Gill and directors Tony Shearer and Steve Herbert are among those who have been hitting the pavements and trails over the past seven days.

The walkers have taken to their task with enthusiasm and between them they have already covered just over 270 miles during the first week of April!

As well as that, generous supporters have pledged £330 into the Go Fund Me page set-up for the 1901 Miles In April campaign, which is aiming to raise £1901 for the cause.
