Mark Cooper has confirmed Mark Ellis will be The Bluebirds’ new Club Captain for the 2021/22 campaign.
The experienced defender will take up the armband at Holker Street for the impending season after arriving at the Club during the summer following a spell at Tranmere Rovers.
With more than 400 senior games under his belt, Ellis was Cooper’s first choice as skipper and the Bluebirds boss knows that the central defender will lead by example, on and off the pitch.
“Mark is a proven professional and he seems like the logical choice for me,” Cooper explained.
“You don’t have to worry too much about him because you know he’s going to train properly every day and look after himself when he’s away from the place.
“You get what it says on the tin with him. You know he’s going to compete, which is the first thing you need to win a football game, but you also know he’s going to lead and help other players.”
