Boss Mark Cooper has confirmed that Mike Jones has been ruled out for a period of four to six weeks after the midfielder underwent surgery on an Achilles problem.
Tom Beadling is also set to miss the opening weeks of the new campaign after he sustained a partial tear of his cruciate ligament during the pre-season friendly at Nottingham Forest.
James Jones and Offrande Zanzala have both returned to training this week, but it looks likely that Saturday’s game at Stevenage will come too soon for the duo.
Stevenage boss Alex Revell has strengthened his squad over the summer on the back of an encouraging second half to last term which saw them finish 14th in League Two.
Among his signings was former Barrow man Brad Barry who will hope to be involved against his former club on Saturday after his switch to The Lamex Stadium.
Front man Jamie Reid is also in line to make a Stevenage debut this weekend after the Hertfordshire club stumped up an undisclosed fee to sign him from Mansfield Town last month.
