Team News: Barrow v Hartlepool United

12 August 2021

We take a look at the latest from both camps ahead of Saturday’s game against Hartlepool United at Holker Street (3pm kick-off).

Jamie Devitt looks set to miss this weekend’s game against Hartlepool United after picking up a thigh injury during the midweek Carabao Cup tie win over Scunthorpe United.

However, Offrande Zanzala proved his fitness with a cameo from the bench during the second half on Tuesday and the striker will hope to press his claims for a first start in Barrow colours on Saturday.

Centre-back Matty Platt missed the midweek victory with a back injury which will be assessed, while fellow defender James Jones is nearing fitness after his own injury problem. Mike Jones remains sidelined after Achilles surgery.

New signing George Williams will come into contention for a Bluebirds debut after he completed a move to Holker Street from Grimsby Town on Wednesday.

Pools boss Dave Challinor made changes to his line-up for their midweek Carabao Cup defeat to Crewe Alexandra and could revert more closely to the side which defeated Crawley Town on the opening day.

Summer signing Mark Cullen has built his fitness with a couple of substitute outings in the opening week after hamstring trouble, but Challinor may resist the urge to field him from the start just yet.

Young front man Joe Grey is still sidelined with a back injury and is therefore unlikely to feature against The Bluebirds this weekend.
