Mark Cooper praised his side’s attitude and commitment as they clinched their first League Two win of the campaign with a 3-2 triumph over Hartlepool United.

The Bluebirds were twice pegged back by the visitors in an enthralling encounter in which Offrande Zanzala and Josh Gordon both scored their first goals for the Club before Dimitri Sea struck the decisive blow.

“It wasn’t a classic in terms of football, but it was end to end, physical and a proper League Two game,” Cooper told iFollow.

“We didn’t play well and, up until the last ten minutes when we had to dig in, we didn’t defend well but they kept going and I can’t question their spirit.

“I can question a few things today, but I can’t question their attitude and commitment because they were running on empty and absolutely out on their feet.

“Whatever work we’ve been able to do, a lot of it has been on defending crosses but we’ve conceded from two today and individual errors and that has to be better.

“Zanz was electric for about five minutes and then blew up because he’s not been able to do enough but we’re trying to get him fit and that was a great start for him.

“Josh (Gordon) deserved his goal today because he’s been outstanding, and he never stopped – all our forward scored today and that is very pleasing.

“They have to keep that spirit which they have had from Day One and they keep surprising me.”
