Ant Kearney from Furness Building Society was delighted to hand over a cheque for £7,911 to Barrow AFC prior to kick-off in the weekend meeting with Hartlepool United.
The fantastic donation has been generated by Bluebirds supporters who have been building money in a special savings account with Furness Building Society.
Furness Building Society donates 0.5% of the average balances held in all of their savings accounts which means the more Barrow fans save, the more money gets donated!
“For over 150 years we have helped local people to buy their own homes and have provided a safe and secure home for their savings,” explained Sarah Wane, Marking & Communications Manager at Furness Building Society.
“But we’re more than just a financial services provider. The work we do and the help we provide to our local community is extremely close to our hearts.
“Since the Barrow AFC Savings Scheme started in 2003, Furness have donated more than £188,000 to the Football Club.”
The Bluebirds’ Commercial Manager, Jamie Stoddart, is thrilled that the long-standing link-up between the Club and Furness Building Society remains strong into the 2021/22 campaign.
“Thanks to our supporters and Furness Building Society, we’ve received a donation which will help the Club continue with the programme of improvements around the ground.
“We are very grateful for the support of local businesses like Furness, and we share the same desire to invest and improve our local communities.”
