Team News: Barrow v Aston Villa

23 August 2021

We take a look at the latest from both camps ahead of Tuesday evening’s Carabao Cup Second Round tie against Aston Villa at The Dunes Hotel Stadium (7.45pm kick-off).

Mark Cooper has no new injury worries as he finalises his preparations for Tuesday night’s televised meeting with Premier League Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

The Bluebirds looks set to remain without former Villa youngster Dimitri Sea, while Matty Platt is likely to miss out as he recovers from a back problem.

Mike Jones is building his fitness after undergoing Achilles surgery, Jamie Devitt is still receiving treatment for a thigh injury and Tom Beadling is out longer term with a partial tear in his cruciate ligament.

Villa boss Dean Smith is tipped to make a number of changes to his starting eleven for their first ever competitive visit to Barrow on Tuesday evening.

The game is likely to come too soon for front man Ollie Watkins who sat out Saturday’s win over Newcastle United with a bruised knee, while summer signing Leon Bailey is battling a hamstring issue.

Bertrand Traore, Morgan Sanson, Trezeguet and Keinan Davis have all spent time in the Villa treatment room during recent weeks so seem unlikely to feature against The Bluebirds.
