Bluebirds Face Up To Injury Setbacks

11 February 2021

Barrow boss Michael Jolley has been dealt a blow on the injury front with the news that Mike Jones is out for the season and Matt Platt is also set for a spell on the sidelines.

Midfield man Jones has been battling with an Achilles injury which hasn’t responded to treatment in the way medical staff would have liked and he now looks certain to miss the remainder of 2020/21.

Meanwhile, Platt injured knee ligaments during training last Friday and is set to see a specialist on Monday to determine the best course of action, after which more will be known about how long he is likely to be out of action.

Bluebirds boss Jolley has also revealed that Tom Beadling could miss six weeks after picking up a groin strain during his substitute appearance against Cambridge United at the weekend.

“In the last two weeks we’ve lost Mike Jones, Matt Platt, Tom Beadling for a good chunk of the season through injury and Harrison Biggins has gone back to Fleetwood,” he explained.

“It’s obviously very disappointing because they have been key players for us at different stages of this season so we hope that the lads who are injured can get back to fitness as soon as possible.

“What is important now is that we regroup – we brought some new players in during the January transfer window and it was important we did so we need to kick-on from here now.”

In more positive news, Scott Quigley has recovered from the illness which forced him off against Cambridge, Brad Barry is back in full training after hamstring trouble and Jamie Devitt and Chris Taylor are both hoping to be in contention for Saturday’s trip to Forest Green Rovers.
