The EFL has teamed up with other football bodies to send an open letter to Twitter and Facebook in a plea for them to make assurances over the way they deal with online hate.
Abuse of footballers on social media platforms remains a huge issue and the EFL, along with The FA, the Premier League, the Women’s Professional Game, the LMA, the PFA, PGMOL and Kick It Out have reached out to Twitter and Facebook.
In the letter, sent directly to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, they refer to a rise in the “levels of vicious abuse aimed at footballers” and ask that they “use the power of your global systems to bring this to an end.”
