In Focus: Barrow's Record At Salford City

15 February 2021

Phil Yelland looks back on our previous visits to Salford ahead of Tuesday night’s League Two encounter at The Peninsula Stadium.

Tuesday night’s game represents only our second competitive game against Salford City at Moor Lane.

Our first was on August Bank Holiday in 2018 when we were both competing in the National League. The Ammies had just won promotion and took the points thanks to a 3-1 triumph, with our consolation goal coming from a great strike from Jason Taylor from the edge of the box – his first goal for the Club.

However, we have played there once before in a pre-season friendly back in August 2010 when, with a team mainly made up of trialists, we ran out 2-0 winners. The goals came from Ben Beresford, who subsequently played for The Ammies, and Andy Morley. Our joint Manager that night, Darren Sheridan, went on to have a year and a half in charge of Salford after leaving Barrow.
