Jolley Delighted With Eardley Loan Deal

14 January 2021

Michael Jolley is certain that Neal Eardley’s experience will prove invaluable for Barrow during the second half of the season after the 32-year-old joined The Bluebirds on loan.

Eardley, who won promotion from League Two with Lincoln City in 2019, has arrived at The Progression Solicitors Stadium from Burton Albion on a deal which runs until the end of May.

Most at home as a right-back, the Wales international is comfortable anywhere along the defensive line and has also operated in midfield on occasions in the past.

Boss Jolley is thrilled to have added the versatile star to his ranks for the run-in and is hoping to bring in more recruits between now and the end of the January transfer window.

“I think when you look at the current group you could say the one thing we need to add is experience and people who have consistently done well in the EFL,” Jolley explained.

“In Neal, we’re bringing in somebody who knows his way around this division. He’s achieved promotions in the past and obviously this is a different task, but I am sure his knowhow will really help us.

“He’s a versatile player so we haven’t just brought him in to play in one position – we see him in a number or roles which can help the team play in a couple of different areas.

“I think he’s got experience but he’s still a good age, he’s a fit lad and he’s ready to play so he’s not someone we’re going to have to spend time with getting him up to speed.

“He’s ready to contribute quickly so we’re really excited to bring him to the Club and hopefully he is the first of several new players coming through the door to help the team.”
