Michael Jolley has challenged his players to react to their disappointing defeat last weekend by getting back to winning ways against Scunthorpe United on Saturday.
The Bluebirds boss was frustrated by the 1-0 loss at Southend United last time out but has seen a positive response from his players on the training ground since then.
Now he’s encouraged them to take that out on to the pitch with them at The Progression Solicitors Stadium on Saturday in an important fixture against The Iron, who sit just one place above them in the League Two table.
“It’s an exciting and an important game,” Jolley told iFollow.
“Our last result wasn’t what we wanted but we’re back at home and this is certainly a game we will be looking to try and win, as we do with all of them.
“When you play a team that is in a similar part of the table to yourselves there is always an added dimension to it, but equally we have to remind ourselves that we’re only halfway through the season.
“We hit that halfway point after the Scunthorpe game so, of course, we’ll try and get the three points, but this won’t be the defining game in our season just yet, albeit an important one.
“They’ve got some excellent players and we have to be mindful of that but, equally, we feel good about ourselves and what we can bring to the game on Saturday.
“We know it will be a tough game for us – but it will be a tough game for Scunthorpe as well.”
