Sam Hird Takes Up Coaching Role At Bolton

2 July 2021

Sam Hird has officially left Barrow to take up a role as First Team Coach with Bolton Wanderers.

The defender made 65 appearances during two and a half seasons with The Bluebirds, playing a key role in the Club’s historic promotion to the Football League during his debut campaign.

Hird began last term in the starting eleven but finished the season on the backroom staff when he stepped up to assist Caretaker Manager Rob Kelly as Barrow secured their EFL status.

Now the 33-year-old has made the decision to hang up his boots permanently in order to chase his coaching ambitions and will be reunited with former Bluebirds boss Ian Evatt at The University of Bolton Stadium.

Hird will face a quick return to Holker Street later this month when League One Wanderers make the trip for a pre-season friendly on Saturday 24th July (3pm kick-off).

Everyone at Barrow AFC would like to thank him for his service to the Club and wish him every success in his future career.
