Bluebirds Agree New BBC Radio Cumbria Deal

16 July 2021

The Club is delighted to announce that a new three-year commentary deal has been agreed with BBC Radio Cumbria ahead of the fresh campaign.

The new contract means that BBC Radio Cumbria will continue to provide live commentary of every Bluebirds game, both home and away, until the end of the 2023/24 season.

Adam Johnson will continue to front BBC Radio Cumbria’s coverage of Mark Cooper’s men, with John Goodwin joining him for home games and Mark Boyd behind the mic on the road.

Fans will be able to enjoy live audio coverage of our matches on BBC Radio Cumbria’s AM frequency, on Freeview Channel 721 and also via iFollow where it will be available audio-only and as part of our live video streaming service.

“We are delighted to have agreed a new deal with Barrow AFC and continue our long-standing commitment to providing fans with dedicated, informed and passionate coverage for the next three seasons,” commented Paul Newton, Sports Editor for BBC Radio Cumbria.

“We look forward to continuing a journey that began in the non-leagues back in the 1980s through to The Bluebirds’ incredible Football League return.”

Barrow Chief Executive, Levi Gill, added: “It’s great to confirm the continuation of our partnership with BBC Radio Cumbria for another three seasons.

“This deal brings stability and allows us to continue to provide access to Club content to as wide an audience as possible.

“In addition to our own Club channels, there are so many ways to keep up to date with developments at Holker Street during what should be a very exciting upcoming season.”
