Barrow v Bolton Wanderers
Saturday 24th July 2021, 3pm
Holker Street
Pre-Season Friendly

The Opposition
Bolton Wanderers are preparing for their return to League One after winning automatic promotion at the end of a dramatic 2020/21 campaign.

Former Bluebirds boss Ian Evatt endured a challenging start to his tenure at The University of Bolton Stadium and The Trotters were fighting nearer the base of the League Two table in the early months of the season.

However, a hugely successful New Year recruitment drive helped Wanderers to find their best form and an astonishing sequence of 13 wins out of 15 from the end of January through to March saw them drive into promotion contention.

The triumph marked the end of a dismal few years for Bolton fans, who saw their team slip through the Championship down to the fourth tier on the back of successive relegations.

One To Watch
Amadou Bakayoko has impressed the Wanderers’ hierarchy since joining the club on a two-year deal during the summer following his departure from Coventry City.

A hard-working and physical front man, Bakayoko struck his first Trotters’ goal during their friendly win over Longridge Town and has been backed to prosper in Wanderers colours by boss Ian Evatt.

The Sierra Leone born attacker spent three years at Coventry, during which time he played almost 100 games and became a big fans’ favourite.
