Tom Beadling is set for a spell on the sidelines after he sustained a partial tear of his cruciate ligament.
The midfielder picked up the injury during Monday’s friendly at Nottingham Forest and is set to return to a specialist early next week for further assessment.
It’s a big blow for boss Mark Cooper, who is also without James Jones and Mike Jones through injury, though Offrande Zanzala is closing in on a return to action after a hamstring problem.
“Tom has a brace on his knee because of a partial tear in his cruciate ligament,” Cooper told us.
“I think that probably means about two months out for Tom but we’re lucky it’s not nine because he’s not fully ruptured it.
“Jones (James) and Zanzala should be back in training on Monday but neither of those are going to be in contention for next Saturday.
“We’re still looking hard for the right players and trying to attract them to come to Barrow so that work will continue this week.”
