Josh Kay Agrees New Bluebirds Deal

4 June 2021

Josh Kay has signed a new deal to extend his stay with Barrow after new boss Mark Cooper moved quickly to bring him back to The Progression Solicitors Stadium.

The popular winger was initially named among those released from the Club last month, but Cooper made it one of his priorities to open talks with the 24-year-old about a new Bluebirds deal.

Kay has now turned his back on other options to pen a fresh two-year contract with Barrow and Cooper is keen to get the very best out of the talented star when the players return for 2021/22.

“I was really keen to get Josh back into the Club as soon as I took the job,” the boss told us.

“The pace and creativity that he has are things that I see becoming a real asset for us next season.

“You can never have enough pace and creativity in a team, so I am pleased he’s agreed the deal and I am really looking forward to working with him.”

Kay scored five times during 2020/21, including a crucial late winner at Walsall in March which was crowned as the Club’s Goal of the Season in a supporters’ vote.

The gifted attacker has become a fans’ favourite at Barrow since joining the Club in 2018 and he played a key role in The Bluebirds’ historic promotion from the National League in 2019/20.
