Barrow Seal Deal For Tom White

8 June 2021

Mark Cooper has completed an eye-catching hat-trick of new signings for the week by clinching a deal to bring midfield star Tom White back to Barrow.

The 24-year-old has put pen to paper on an initial one-year contract at The Progression Solicitors Stadium with the option of a further year, following his departure from Blackburn Rovers.

White was one of the standout performers in The Bluebirds’ historic 2019/20 promotion campaign during which he made 19 appearances in all competitions whilst on loan from Rovers.

After being on the books at Carlisle United in his youth, White joined Gateshead in 2015 where he fought his way through to the First Team and became a regular in 2018/19.

His form in the heart of The Tynesiders’ midfield gained him plenty of attention from higher divisions but it was Blackburn who won the race for his signature in the summer of 2019.

He initially arrived at Barrow on loan in November 2019 and became a hugely popular figure with Bluebirds fans thanks to his composure on the ball and his tenacity out of possession.

White spent the first half of 2020/21 on loan at Bolton Wanderers before then making a temporary move to Hartlepool United prior to his release from Ewood Park at the end of the season.

Again, there were a lot of interested parties hoping to snap up the highly rated star but new Barrow boss Mark Cooper moved swiftly to convince him that his future lay in Cumbria.
