Bluebird Spotlight: Stephen Dunstan

1 June 2021

We turn the focus on another Barrow supporter in our summer feature aimed at placing the Bluebirds faithful centre-stage in our coverage.

Next up today is Barrow fan Stephen Dunstan, a Finance Director who comes along to support the lads with his parents from the Brian Arrowsmith Main Stand.

Who did we play in your first Barrow game and what are your memories of the day?
The first game I have memory of was against Goole Town. I don't remember a lot about it.

Which Barrow match that you’ve seen stands out more than most and why?
Cheltenham at home this year. It was great to finally see Barrow playing in the Football League and get an outstanding result against the team who went on to win the title. The atmosphere was brilliant.

Who has been your favourite all-time Barrow player and why?
Colin Cowperthwaite.  Local lad, one club player, amazing record.

Who is your favourite current Barrow player and why?
Joel Dixon, good servant to the Club.

Who do you think has been the most underrated Barrow player during your time watching and why?
Patrick Brough in that he was released by both Carlisle and Morecambe.

Which has been your favourite Barrow goal that you’ve seen live and why?
Jason Walker's strike in the 2010 FA Trophy Final.  A good goal, a final winning goal and the Wembley atmosphere.

What is the favourite away ground you have visited and why?
The Giant Axe, I have refereed youth games there and did my degree in Lancaster.

What are your hopes for Barrow in the 2021/22 season?
To stay up with less angst than in 2020/21 and consolidate as a League Two club.
