Quigley Is Fans' Player Of The Year

21 May 2021

Barrow star Scott Quigley has been rewarded for his brilliant form during the past campaign by being voted as the Fans’ Player of the Year for 2020/21.

The front man fired 15 goals during his first full season at EFL level to help The Bluebirds move clear of the bottom two and consolidate their position in League Two.

After overcoming suspension and injury problems during the opening part of the campaign, Quigley helped himself to a first Football League goal when he curled home a stunner against Oldham Athletic in November.

The 28-year-old really found his feet the following month, smashing in four goals in as many games as Barrow ended the calendar year in good form.

Quigley’s goals became even more crucial during the run-in; he scored a dramatic late winner at Oldham in February before an even later and more dramatic winner against Crawley Town the following month.

He was also on target during vital wins over Newport County and Exeter City before holding his nerve to convert from the penalty spot in the 2-0 win at Forest Green which clinched the Club’s safety.

As well as that, Quigley’s honesty and emotion shown in post-match interviews further cemented his place in supporters’ hearts, so it was little surprise that he held off strong competition from Patrick Brough, Joel Dixon and Jason Taylor to be named Fans’ Player of the Year for 2020/21.
