Bluebirds Launch Christmas Toy Donation Drive

25 November 2021

Barrow AFC is delighted to announce a Christmas initiative to boost three local charities this festive season – and we’re looking for supporters to help us make it a huge success!

Once again working in partnership with the Club’s Community Trust, we’re asking fans to donate a toy for our appeal this Christmas, with all items received being passed on to local worthy causes.

The Club is proud to develop further its link with Furness Carers as part of this Christmas drive, whilst toys will also be donated to Barrow Women’s Community Matters.

So, we’re appealing to supporters to just buy one more toy when they’re out shopping over the next few weeks because, no matter how big or small the donation, it could make a huge difference to someone this Christmas.

Bluebirds Operations Manager, Alisha Henry commented: “It’s fantastic to be working closely with the Community Trust again on such a worthwhile project that we think can make a difference.

“The community spirit in the town is something which struck me immediately when I began working at the Club and I hope we can all pull together on this Christmas scheme to help spread some festive cheer.

“The Football Club is a focal point for the town and it’s important that we recognise the role we play in the community so every donation of a toy received will be hugely appreciated.”

Trust Manager, Craig Rutherford, who last year gained nationwide recognition for his Barrow United project to help the local Foodbank over Christmas, is also pleased to see the new initiative launched.

“We are delighted to be working alongside the Football Club to hopefully put some smiles on people’s faces throughout the festive period,” said Community Trust Manager, Craig Rutherford.

“As we all know, the last two years have been very difficult for a lot of people, and we are very lucky to be in a position where we can try to help.

“Our local community is hugely important to us, and we will continue to do our best to make a positive difference so hopefully the brilliant Bluebirds fans get on board once again to help make the toy donation drive a big success.”

Fans can drop off their donations to Main Reception at The Dunes Hotel Stadium, where we’ll store the items securely before organising delivery to the two good causes.

We’ll continue to accept toy donations up until 4pm on Wednesday 15th December.

Many thanks in advance for your support.
