The Boys Were Outstanding - Cooper

4 September 2021

Mark Cooper was understandably delighted after seeing his side produce one of their most accomplished performances of the season to win 3-0 at Oldham Athletic.

The result was rarely in doubt at Boundary Park from the moment Ollie Banks rattled in a brilliant long-range drive after just 15 minutes to give a confident Bluebirds side the lead.

Offrande Zanzala reacted positively to some half-time words from the Manager to make it 2-0 before Joe Grayson swept home his first goal for the Club direct from a wide free kick to put extra gloss on the win.

“It was eventful – it had a bit of everything,” Cooper told iFollow.

“It was another great effort from the players, the whole squad really because all the injured players were here, there was a good turn out from the Barrow fans again – it was just a good day.

“The boys gave everything; they were outstanding and it’s always nice to win on the road.

“The first goal was a great strike from Ollie; he’s been magnificent again and today he was captain which was a reward for his performances and his work rate since he’s been here.

“Paul Farman made some great saves to keep us in it in the first half and in the second half we were calm and controlled in what was a difficult atmosphere with what was going on with the crowd.

“Zanz got an almighty rollicking at half time for his first half performance and that’s what you need – he wasn’t up to his usual standard, so I let him know and he responded with that goal.

“Hopefully that sent the fans home happy and the pubs in Barrow are bouncing tonight!”
