Captain's Column: Barrow v Lincoln City

23 August 2022

Barrow captain Niall Canavan pens his thoughts ahead of tonight's Carabao Cup Round Two clash against Lincoln City.

Good evening, and welcome back for tonight’s Carabao Cup game against Lincoln City, where we have another chance to test ourselves against a higher league opposition.

We come into tonight’s fixture on the back of an important week early in the season for us, where we have bounced back from our first loss with consecutive home victories.

It bodes well for the team that we have the character in the group to deal with disappointment in the right way and could focus quickly on the next challenge in front of us.

Saturday’s match was a different performance to Tuesday, but showed another side to the group and that we can find a way to get over the line when conditions are testing. It was also very pleasing to record our first league clean sheet of the season; something we take pride in as a group, hopefully we will have many more racked up as the season rolls on.

Cup competitions provide opportunities to play higher ranked opposition and that is always a great opportunity to show everyone what we can do. We look towards tonight’s game as another chance to express ourselves and will be aiming to maintain our excellent start to the season at home; should things go our way, we’ll be in the hat for an exciting draw for the next round.

So be loud for us again, back the boys and let’s see where this run takes us!

Up the Barra’
