We turn the focus on this evening's action with a full and in-depth preview of Salford City's League Two visit to The Dunes Hotel Stadium.

Barrow v Salford City

Sky Bet League Two

In Opposition
Salford City will arrive at The Dunes Hotel Stadium this evening looking to shake off the disappointment of a surprise defeat at the weekend.

The Ammies had been in good form from November through to the New Year but have now lost two of their last three games, including the weekend’s 3-0 humbling at home to struggling Colchester United.

As a result, Gary Bowyer’s men find themselves seven points shy of the play-off places ahead of kick-off and in need of a return to their best form if they are to force a way into the promotion shake-up.

One To Watch
Matthew Lund has made a big impact at Salford City this season since joining the club last summer following his departure from relegated Rochdale.

The midfield schemer has started all but two League Two games for The Ammies for far in 2021/22 and has helped himself to five goals along the way.

A former Stoke City trainee, the 31-year-old now has bags of EFL experience and will be one of the key players for City as they look to drive towards the top seven in the coming months.

Head To Head
Tonight’s fixture will be just the fifth competitive meeting between the two sides and the third played at EFL level after the two encounters last term.

The Ammies did the double over Barrow in 2021/22, running out 1-0 winners at The Peninsula Stadium before repeating that result in Cumbria later in the campaign.

Of course, The Bluebirds have beaten Salford on home turf in the past – the dramatic 3-2 triumph in December 2018 will live long in the memory for Kemy Agustien’s spectacular strike and Jacob Blyth’s glorious winner.

Referee
Andy Haines is on the whistle for this evening’s action against Salford City in what will be his first visit of the season to The Dunes Hotel Stadium.

An experienced official, Haines oversaw two Bluebirds fixtures last term as he watched us draw 1-1 with Leyton Orient in October and presided over our 2-0 home defeat to Port Vale in April 2021.

He was in charge at Vale Park last Saturday as The Valiants were beaten 3-1 by Swindon Town, while he was on Fourth Official duty for Morecambe’s 3-2 win over Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend.
