He Offers Us Something Different - Cooper

28 January 2022

Mark Cooper has welcomed the arrival of Aaron Amadi-Holloway and has insisted that he can be the perfect foil for the other attacking players already in the Bluebirds squad.

The 6ft 2ins front man has joined on loan from Burton Albion until the end of the season and the Barrow boss is delighted to have secured a deal to bring him in.

“He’s an out and out target man,” explained Cooper.

“He will play through the middle, he’s good in the air and he will occupy defenders. People have been saying that is what we need, and we’ve been trying to find one.

“We have signed two young boys on loan who have bright futures in the game, but the way the last two games have gone they probably need a little bit of help.

“Aaron has become available, and I always said that if we could find the right one, we’d try and do the deal so that’s what we’ve done.”

Amadi-Holloway trained with his new teammates for the first time in Bristol on Friday afternoon, as the Barrow squad stopped to go through some final preparations on their way to Newport.

The 28-year-old has been registered in time to go into contention for a debut against his former club at Rodney Parade on Saturday and Cooper is sure he can bring out the best in those around him.

“Everything doesn’t have to be as precise when you have a target man but what you don’t want to do is knock it up to him every time because then you become predictable,” he told us.

“Aaron is really good with his feet, back to goal and will get hold of the ball so he will make space for other people to get into goalscoring positions, I think.”
