Bluebirds Complete Deal For Solomon Nwabuokei

14 June 2022

Pete Wild has moved to complete his second signing as Bluebirds boss with highly rated midfielder Solomon Nwaboukei joining the Club following his departure from Woking.

The 26-year-old box-to-box midfield star was one of the standout performers for Woking last season, making 41 appearances for The Cards during their National League campaign.

An energetic and determined competitor who can also operate in defence if required, Nwaboukei earned a move to Woking after catching the eye during a brilliant two-season spell with St Albans City.

A step up in to the EFL with Barrow marks the next chapter in a meteoric rise for Nwaboukei, who came through the ranks at Biggleswade Town where he was named Young Player of the Year in 2018/19.

“Solomon is a player who I came up against twice last season and I’ve kept my eye on him from then because he’s got real energy and enthusiasm,” commented boss Wild.

“When we arrived in the building here, we quickly identified that we have some really good footballers so it was about adding some energy and some players who can compete more out of possession as well as in possession.

“People might see it as a bit of a left field signing but I think he has so much potential to move to the next level and sometimes you have to think outside of the box.

“He’s got so many fantastic attributes; he does the ugly side of the game excellently well and now it’s our job as a coaching staff to make him even better in other areas, so we’re really excited he’s here.”
