Pete Wild has secured his fifth signing as Bluebirds boss, as centre back Sam McClelland joins the club on a full season loan from Premier League Chelsea.
A Northern Ireland international, McClelland is highly rated amongst the Chelsea ranks.
McClelland penned his first professional contract at Stamford Bridge in July 2019, making 16 outings for The Blues’ U18 side that season.
An impressive debut campaign in Chelsea colours saw him promoted to the Development Squad for 2020/21, with the 6ft 3in defender making 11 Premier League 2 appearances.
Coleraine-born McClelland was picked for the Northern Ireland squad for friendlies against Malta and Ukraine in 2021, making his senior international debut against the latter.
Barrow manager Pete Wild was once again over the moon to have Sam put pen to paper:
“Sam comes highly recommended from both club and country and is at the right stage of his career to experience men’s football.
“We are excited to have him as part of the group and help continue his development as a footballer.”
