Bristol Rovers v Barrow
Tuesday 1st March 2022, 7.45pm
The Memorial Stadium
Sky Bet League Two

In Opposition
After an inconsistent first half to the season, Bristol Rovers seem to have found their feet in League Two and a recent run of results has put them back in the hunt for a play-off place.

Joey Barton’s men were relegated from League One last term, but they took their time to readjust to life back at a lower level and were in the bottom half at the beginning of December.

However, after an enforced break in fixtures due to COVID-19, The Gas have come out firing on all cylinders and have lost just once in the league since the turn of the year.

They have won six of their last 11 outings to move up to 10th in the table and they’re now just four points shy of the top seven with fans anticipating an exciting run-in.

One To Watch
Aaron Collins has run into some great form during the second half of the season for Bristol Rovers and the front man has now found the net 9 times in his last 14 appearances.

That sequence included a double in the impressive 4-2 win over Rochdale and the dramatic late winner in Rovers’ 1-0 triumph over Walsall.

Collins’ continued form could be a crucial factor for Barton’s side during the run-in with the hope being his goals can help pave the way to a play-off place.

Head To Head
This evening’s game will be The Bluebirds’ first Football League trip to Bristol Rovers since the 1969/70 campaign, which was the last occasion the two clubs shared a division.

However, the teams have met twice in the FA Cup fairly recently – the most memorable being in December 2016 when two Byron Harrison goals helped Barrow to make headlines with a victory over then League One Rovers at The Memorial Stadium.

Referee
David Rock will take charge of his first Barrow game of the season when he’s on the whistle for our meeting with Bristol Rovers at The Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night.

The official is now into his third season on the EFL’s list of referees having been promoted from the National League at the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

Rock has operated across Leagues One and Two this term, with his most recent appointment coming 10 days ago when he oversaw Tranmere Rovers’ 1-1 draw against Port Vale at Prenton Park.
