19 November 2022

Barrow returned to winning ways after a lightning start, which saw the Bluebirds 3 up within 21 minutes to see off Hartlepool, who fought back to get a goal for themselves in the 77th minute but it was only a consultation.

What a start to the game it was for Barrow; Josh Gordon kicked off the scoring in the 4th minute when he pounced on a mistake by Hartlepool stopper Ben Killip, dinking the ball into the open net from 25 yards out.

4 minutes later Josh Kay darted into the Hartlepool half, producing an exquisite through ball to Ben Whitfield who cut inside Brody Paterson and found his spot down the middle past Ben Killip to double The Bluebirds' lead.

In the 21st minute, Barrow made it three. Niall Canavan’s fantastic ball looped over the Hartlepool defence and found Josh Gordon who raced towards goal, drawing Ben Killip, before squaring to Billy Waters; converting his 7th goal of the campaign.

Paul Farman produced a brilliant save to palm away Jake Hastie’s bullet shot just outside the Barrow box, which was soaring towards the top corner in the 41st minute as Hartlepool pushed for a route back into the game.

Pools started the opening to the second half brighter, however, Barrow came forward in the 55th minute. Billy Waters delivered a dangerous ball into the box, aiming for the head of Josh Gordon, but Ben Killip rose highest to bring the ball into his grasp.

Hartlepool had a brilliant opportunity in the 61st minute; Clarke Odour brought the ball under control on the left-hand side, playing a silky through ball to Jack Hamilton but was denied by Paul Farman at close range.

In the 77th minute, the visitors pulled a goal back in front of the Holker Street End, Jake Hastie delivered a free kick to the back post which fell to Chris Missilou who blasted the ball past Paul Farman into the bottom right corner from just inside the Barrow Box.

In the 90th minute Josh Kay picked up the ball on the left-hand side, he took on Brody Paterson before seeing his shot from the edge of the box flash across Ben Killip’s goal.
