Barrow Victorious In Oldham Athletic Friendly

25 November 2022

The Bluebirds ran out as 1-0 winners in a behind closed doors friendly against an Oldham Athletic XI at Boundary Park on Friday lunchtime.

Barrow boss Pete Wild said the fixture was of huge benefit for the squad:

"It was a great run out both teams, and certainly gave ourselves a really good chance to give game time to players for some well earned minutes. The game has given us an opportunity to get some members of the squad up to speed."

The Boundary Park fixture saw a rotated squad for The Bluebirds, with a few trialists involved also. Paul Farman started between the sticks, with Scott Moloney taking over the gloves for the second half.

"It’s been a tough week with two games, so we rotated squad in this game to give valuable minutes that were needed for some of the lads.

"Everybody got a good 45 minutes, against a young Oldham side that showed a real good fight and a great deal of determination.

"Overall, I am really pleased with the runout, which included a lot of individual contributions.

Wild paid credit to the hosts for providing a competitive game and allowing his side to get minutes under their belts.

"I’d like to thank Oldham for hosting this game. It’s been of great benefit for us as group. Fair credit to [Oldham] too, they gave us a good match and allowed us to test ourselves and test things out in a behind closed doors setting."

Final Score: Oldham Athletic 0-1 Barrow

Barrow Starting XI: Farman, Brown, Canavan, Trialist, Kenlock, Nwabuokei, Neal, Trialist, Bennett, Moyo, Stevens.
