Pre Carlisle Thoughts : Pete Wild

21 April 2023

Pete Wild provides his overview heading into Saturdays fixture against Carlisle United at the SO Legal Stadium

Pete Wild insists his side are out to finish the season strongly ahead of a local clash with Carlisle United at the SO Legal stadium on Saturday.

A slender defeat at Grimsby Town on Saturday means chances of a play-off spot for the Bluebirds are now slim, but that does not change Wild's approach to the remaining three fixtures.

"Our approach remains the same. We want to finish the season strongly and in the right manner. Carlisle have had a fantastic season and we have challenged ourselves all season against the best sides in this league so tomorrow will be no different."

Two tough away trips to Swindon and Grimsby in the last seven days yielded strong performances from the Bluebirds and though results didn't go our way, Wild wants more of the same from his side performance-wise.

"I was really pleased with both displays this week. Sometimes performance doesn't equal outcome and that was certainly the case on Tuesday. We need to take all of the positives from the games and ensure we use that to drive us on Saturday."

A bumper crowd is expected at the SO Legal stadium, with over 4000 tickets snapped up already, and Wild is delighted that the home support is still getting right behind his team.

"Ticket sales have been outstanding and it shows the belief the fans have in this squad. We all appreciate their support and we will do everything possible to get a result for them. It's imperative that we finish well, because we want to finish what we have started."
