The Mayor of Barrow-in-Furness Chris Altree and Club Captain Niall Canavan had the privilege of opening our new stands ahead of our first home game of the 2023/2024 Season.
It has certainly been an extremely productive summer at the SO Legal Stadium with over 1000 new seats being installed by GL Events.
However, first HBP LTD had to flatten the old terracing. Then replace it with a brand new concrete pad, along with installing drainage to supply our new away fan zone.
The club has worked closely with several local businesses including: HBP LTD, Gadsden Consulting, Keith Wilson Electrical Contractors, S Lancaster Electrical, and FFRAS LTD throughout the project and we thank them tremendously for all their hard work and support.
The new seats were required to be installed to make us compliant with the EFL membership criteria which meant we needed to have at least 2000 seats in the ground by our third consecutive season in the EFL.
Bluebirds Trust Representative and Club Director Frazer Stewart, who spearheaded the works on the stands said: "The project has been ongoing for around two and a half years so it's great to finally see it come to fruition and it was wonderful to see them in action against Sutton and we can't wait to see them full against Wrexham."
The mayor added: "It's huge obviously the main thing is complying with the EFL guidance so now the club can settle and focus on the pitch matters. Each year the club is taking big steps to be seen as an EFL club and not 'little old Barrow' so it's about making sure everyone sees us as a proper football league club."
