We are delighted to announce the signing of Malakai Reeve for the B-Team on a one-year deal, with the option of an additional year.
Reeve has been in and around the first team for the vast majority of pre-season where he has featured at centre-back for Pete Wild’s side.
The 19-year-old has spent his youth career at Championship side Coventry City, where he has developed as a ball-playing defender, who can play anywhere across the backline.
Reeve said: “I’m obviously very happy to sign, having been released by Coventry at the end of last season to now signing my first professional deal with a League Two Side is great, I’m over the moon.
“The last couple of weeks have been really nice, the boys have welcomed me in and I already feel a part of the team, even though I’ve only been here for two weeks.
“It’s been a completely different challenge to what I’m used to in academy football which is obviously a less physical environment. But after playing against some big lads during pre-season with some elbows in the face is a different experience for sure.
“Overall, my goal is to break into that first team and get a starting place.”
B-Team Head Coach Jason Taylor added: "Malakai has been great since coming into the building a few weeks ago. He's a forward-thinking defender who is very comfortable on the ball.
"Attribute wise he's got everything he needs to become a great defender. Our job now is to get him some minutes on the pitch and get used to playing men's football."
